Leonardo invented many things, but one thing that Leonardo was revolutionary at was his ability to make cogs, gears and bearings. Cogs, gears and bearings had been around before Leonardo, but he made them better.

In this lesson, students are to assemble different cogs, gears and bearings systems of Leonardo Da Vinci. This is an opportunity to experiement and explore the different oblects that Leonardo created, and are now taken for granted, but make our life easier.

This is an exploration lesson, and an appreciation for the cogs, gears and bearings of Leonardo is the aim, and leads directly to the next lesson which explores another man who is into making interesting contraptions.

Once completed students are to post there cog or gearing system onto this page as a video.
